Redington of Rochester, N.Y.; financial records include notes, receipts, pay orders, bills, accounts, bills of sale, and account books pertaining to lumbering, livestock, taxes, sawmill, hardware, and household expenses, 1817-1859; legal papers include deeds, surveys, indentures, contracts, agreements, record of court costs, judgments, and quit-claims, 1803-1854; other items include his notebooks on law, n.d., and minutes, benefit records, and accounts of the Sons of Temperance, 1849-1859.

Redington was a prominent businessman in Waddington, St. Lawrence County, N.Y. He initially began his career as a lawyer, but later became heavily interested in the lumber trade. Redington also had large real estate holdings in St. Lawrence County. He served as a New York State Assemblyman, representing St. Lawrence County, and was later appointed a county judge.
